Interesting. Not bad for a county with no beach.

Is this report really visitation to the counties, or only visitation to SC state parks & recreation facilities? Myrtle Beach estimated 2016 visitation to be around 18,000,000. Or roughly 10 million more than this study. It's been a long, long time since MB visitation has been below 10,000,000.

Almost 18 million visitors makes for great summer in Myrtle Beach, despite slow start | The State

The list did not break down the number of visitors by park. It is visitors to each county.

I was surprised to see Florence County come in at 6th most visited in the state. I guess that is just people staying overnight in a hotel as they travel to other destinations.

I'm skeptical of those numbers and their methodology. A lot of it doesn't make much sense. Why is Orangeburg so high and Dorchester so low? Laurens, Newberry, Greenwood, Kershaw, Cherokee, Clarendon, Colleton, Jasper all higher than Dorchester too. None of them make sense.

There's virtually nothing in Jasper except the road into Savannah. If you're in Colleton and not driving through Walterboro then you're driving through nothing. Don't know if many natives even know where Clarendon or Chester is. Horry is too low compared to every article about Myrtle's tourism.

Darlington is lower than Dillon, but at least they have Nascar. Dillon has...South of the Border? Seems like they counted a bunch of interstate traffic and what not. Hard to tell how accurate the top numbers are too.

I dont know how they can accurately tell outsiders. Almost impossible. I think they just throwing out random information. Maybe theybare adding people from out of town that stop to get gas or something. Pointless !!

Perhaps they are counting unique hotel room rentals? If you live in state or nearby and only go for a day trip or something you aren't likely to need a hotel room, though the numbers are still suspect.

Yeah, I certainly would not put much faith in this survey.
Looks fishy.

I think the relative visitation in the counties is pretty accurate given it has Horry, Charleston, Greenville and Beaufort in top 4.
