I must say hands down for me. It is Carolina BBQ in New Ellenton, SC. I am amaze that the food still taste the same after 30 years. The hash, hush puppies, chopped bbq is like no other.
For me it would be a toss up between McCabe's in Manning and Scott's in Hemingway.
We live right up the street from Mutt's in Easley. The two of us can't eat an entire carryout pork plate. Its just okay.I wouldn't drive very far to eat there.
...and a strong honorable mention and shout out to Coopers Store in Salters SC.That place is a 1930's time capsule serving spicy vinager whole hog que on a grab and go basis, and don't forget the country ham and sausage, boiled peanuts, hot dogs, shotgun shells, motor oil and on and on.

Real country stores like Coopers are hard to find anymore. We usually stop in on our way back whenever we visit family in Spartanburg. I love their sausage, but I wish they would use a lighter touch on the red pepper in their BBQ sauce. It takes me about a gallon of sweet tea to get thru one of their sandwiches.
The last time we were through, the guy at the counter in front of me ordered saying "I'll have a turkey sandwich with manaise on both sides with fity cents worth of souse meat" You can't get that just anywhere.
Yes, Russell and his crew are heavy handed with the red pepper, but its good and I even like the pork skin mixed in, now that's whole hog!
