How do I find out who does utility locating in SD?
You know the "call before you dig" people? Specifically, I am looking for the names of companies/subcontrators for the utility services in western SD. Cable, phone, gas, electric, water...all of those utilities have to be located by SOMEbody, but I haven't been able to dig anything up on the web (sorry, bad pun!). Can anyone point me in the right direction?

It's been awhile, but I think if you call that 811 number and tell them you plan to dig, they contact your utilities, and one by one they show up and mark within a few days. Either that or they give you the numbers to call, but if I remember right they do the contacting.

The ONE CALL ppl do the contacting. However no8fann does not live is SD......

811 or SD one call. They are usually on scene within 24 to 48 hours to locate utility lines. Marked with marker paint and flags.
