On Earth, or on land?
No meteor impacts in the oceans? Maybe we should all move off-shore?!

The key is "recorded." Discovery and recording of scientific data isn't a real high priority in a lot of the world. Also, a lot of the world isn't as densely populated as the U.S. is.
