Well, I understand that it better fits here but it does, of course, have to do with health & wellness of both the individuals being victimized and the mental health of those that are abusing. Well, the physical health of an abuser is in jeopardy if it involves my child! Really though, these abusers are evil to the core and need to be culled and there are plenty of them that prey not only on the disabled but on the elderly. I have peace in knowing that they will burn in Hell. There are just some sins that are unforgivable in my book!
It is very hard to catch these people. I know they set up cameras in one of the group homes to finally nail the personnel and I know that now, some of the group homes are being monitored with cameras.
With my son, an adult with Down syndrome, he is still living at home and I often think how horrible it would be if he were being abused because he really could not appropriately let someone know plus in the day center which he USED to attend, the clients would say things to me and the staff would say "Oh, he is just confused." Yeah, I bet! In my son's case, any testimony he could give would never be sufficient that an abuser would get their "just rewards". The burning in Hell gets me through it and if I were not brought up with that belief.............
