HI,

I am hoping to get some recommendations for ABA therapies in Monmouth County, NJ. The developmental pediatrician who diagnosed my 3.5yr old son yesterday said that he needs intensive ABA therapies for 20 hours per week. She recommended finding someone who is "flexible and used to dealing with high functioning" children on the spectrum. I am hoping someone can give me some personal recommendations.

Also, he has been in the Middletown Integrated Preschool program for the last several months, and has been having a very difficult time there. His doctor said we should pull him out, and look for a better school district or private school for next year. He really needs a very small class size, as he is overwhelmed by the noise of a larger class, and withdraws completely into his own world. He does great with me and other people one on one. We are willing to move anywhere, as long as my husband can commute to Manhattan. Any suggestions would be so greatly appreciated. I am really having a tough time finding the right place to ask these questions.

Many thanks.

Maybe a Montessori kind of school where he can work at his own pace. I wish I had done that for my son because traditional school wasn't really the best thing for him. Teachers weren't consistent, one 8th grade teacher gave him an A because he said even though he never turned in any homework, he knew the material better than the other kids -- but not all teachers see it that way so his grades were very inconsistent -- whether he knew the material or not.
