Hi, we are relocating to NJ with 2 children next summer, one who has PDD-NOS. My son is mid functioning and will be entering Kindergarten next fall. Where are the best schools for him in Somerset or surrounding counties? How difficult is it to get the school district to send to out of district schools, such as in Princeton? Where are the better schools located-both public and private? Thanks so much for your help!

The school district would know which schools have classrooms or resources for kindergarten students with that disability. They may even tell you which ones would be better. When I worked in Kentucky, we had more special ed students than any other school, in part because the school district told incoming parents that we had the best special ed program in the district.

I know nothing about New Jersey schools, so I can't help you with any specific information. Have you logged onto the New Jersey forum to ask this question?

thanks for your reply. I had also sent a message to the NJ forum with no replies. I spoke with the special ed director for the district, but like to get feedback from parents on the programs in general. With our current program here in FL, it really helped getting parents' input and helped place my son at the school where he is now. I know not all schools are equal even though the district will tell you otherwise.
