I know it's more popular in Canada and the northeastern United States, so most people here in Texas give me a look wondering if I'm crazy when I talk about it.
But I find it pretty interesting and I'm trying to keep up with this year's National League Lacrosse (indoor lacrosse) season.
I find Lacrosse interesting, but to me it looks too similar to field hockey and hurling. I am not an expert on any of these sports, but if someone can pinpoint the differences that would be great!
I enjoy lacrosse - i used to go to the NLL games out here before the franchise went away .... always fun .... but then again, I am an upstate NY native.......
I do agree about the goalies though .... i much prefer watching some good collegiate play in large part because of the goaltending
It's pretty big in Virginia and it has decent NCAA presence. The sport's definitely growing in the US though from what i've seen. It will take time but it's being attacked at the grassroots level first which is good.
LaCrosse is and has been the largest growing team sport in the US. It is played in every state.
It is the fastest game on foot.
I am not against indoor but, prefer outdoor.
It is the fastest growing International game in the world. Over 30 nations competed in the 2010 games. Up from 5 in 1990.
California, Colorado and Noter Dame are all qualifying for NCAA championships.
IMO, it beats soccer and hockey. They both go up and down the field/ice with no scoring. It is not unusual for Lacrosse to post score in the mid to high teens for both teams.

Kinda easy when you're basically holding the ball, which doesn't happen in either hockey or soccer.
I picked it up in my youth, and it was not easy to learn. Ended up playing varsity back east. I casually keep up with college games throughout the year, and always watch the finals over Memorial Day weekend.
