Nothing's been proven. I wouldn't doubt something happened but 99%? Get outta here
Retread the post. He isn't saying 99% are fixed. He's saying 99% of the people doing the fixing won't be caught.
Truthfully, in an event like this I would suppose you run the risk of multiple players on each side trying to fix the game for multiple interests possibly in different ways (not sure if point shaving is really valid in soccer though) with the end result of a lot of offsetting crappy play that evens things out. Like the South Park episode where both teams ere trying to lose the baseball game.
Will be interesting to see how far tv viewership drops in the US now that they've fallen to Belgium. I'm hoping people stick around to see the rest of the world cup as some really good matchups are coming. Yet I'm certainly glad to see sudden Facebook "soccer experts" and bloggers fall off the map to those that actually know what they are talking about

I am too, one guy in a thread here said the US was better than 90% of the teams in Europe :|
I watched it and wished I hadn't bothered, but I am an American and I believe in getting behind them. I just don't know why everyone thinks Team USA is all that. The other teams basically walked all over them in just about every position except for the goalie. That they won the one game was basically luck.

That's a funny one. I didn't go through all the posts in this thread. Once people started arguing how "people are shoving soccer down everyone's throats" and how it's an attempt to "change our culture", I stopped reading.
Just wanted to address the few that complain that the World Cup is being shoved down peoples throats.
What a bunch of garbage.
The only event I ever see being shoved down peoples throats is the Superbowl. What a bunch of BS that is! I'm a fan of the NFL, but in the two weeks between the AFC/NFC championship games and the Superbowl the media does a fantastic job of shoving it down our throats. Heck, it goes even as far as people/certain politicians proposing that the day after the Superbowl should be a day free from work. That is the epitemy of a sport/event being shoved down our throats and I will always oppose something like this. Working in the professional field, I would be damned if one of my subordinates took that Monday off or showed up with a hangover affecting their work. In such instances they'd be better off searching for another job on Craigslist because I would fire them in a heartbeat!
Just wanted to vent
