We will be moving up as soon as our property sells down here, probably withing 2 weeks of the closing. We only have one slight problem and have not figured out how to deal with it yet for the actual move. We have a 25-ft chest freezer. We won't be moving meat or anything that can not be thawed and then refrozen. But we will have lots of green chiles and prickly pear juice and flour and grains that are frozen. What we plan on doing is loading the freezer as the last item on the truck. We will take everything out, then load the freezer and then put everything back in and shut it tightly. We figure that everything will stay pretty cold until we get up there, which should be about 2 days, possibly 3 but most likely 2 days. The problem is that we are not sure how to take care of the freezer until we actually are able to get an apartment rented and such where we could move it to the apartment. I wish there was a place we could store the freezer where we could keep it plugged in if we could pay for the electric it would use until we get the apartment. That is the on ly problem we would have. Got any ideas at all? Any suggestions? I am hoping that we can find an apartement and get it rented and ready for moving in within 1-2 weeks.

Personally, I would not move the contents of the freezer. It is probably going to take you some time to get the electricity turned on, after you find an apartment and can move into it. Sorry that I don't have any other ideas. How far are you moving? If it's only a short distance maybe you could get the apartment set up with electricity turned on before you move the freezer.

I did find a storage facility in Springfield that offers electric to the storage unti for our freezer. That made me so happy. I am going to check and see if there are others in the area.
