Me and my wife were looking to come and visit St. George the first week of Oct.

There didn't seem to be a lot of great hotel selection and I'm wondering how much of it is due to the upcoming Senior Games Huntsman World Senior Games (Which looks awesome btw once I'm that age).

Does that bring in a ton of people and crowd St. George?
I know it's not a big city so if it does draw a lot of people it could make going out to eat, driving, exploring, etc...a bit more difficult.

For those that live there and have experience it before; what are your thoughts?

Thanks,
Luke

It does draw a crowd, but really most weekends that time of year are fairly busy, and lack of vacancy is a frequent occurrence. I wouldn't postpone your trip because of it. As long as you can get lodging I don't think it will affect what you are able to do down here too much.

Check & see if you find better hotel selection & pricing for the week after Huntsman Games. If so, and if you can easily change your travel dates, I would do it.

Like you said, the Huntsman Games are pretty cool, BUT it certainly does temporarily raise the Washington County population during them, and increased traffic on the main throroughfares & at a lot of restaurants in the area is noticeable. The only other annual event that I recall caused some similar traffic issues & other minor annoyances is the annual Parade of Homes.

Otherwise, you'll survive just fine. Depending on where you're coming from, you may still think traffic is light & popular restaurants aren't crowded!

Yes, the Senior Games will have a definite impact on what kind of choices you might have in terms of accommodation availability. If you were to wait until the games are over, the situation would probably be a lot better. My recommendation for a place to stay would be the Green Gate Village Bed & Breakfast. I've stayed a lot of different places in St. George, and that's definitely my favorite.
