Any places to go boating in the area?

If I purchased a boat could I pay to keep in the water somewhere if there is nearby boating?

As noted above there are plenty of places to go with your boat but I don't think any of them allow you to leave it there in the water. Your best bet would be to trailer it there and back as long as you have somewhere to store it at home.

As stated above, there are no marina's within an hour drive. Wahweap Marina at Lake Powell is 2:30 away - but Lake Powell is spectacular...and worth the extra drive. Fun fact - Lake Powell has over 2,000 miles of shoreline which is more than the combined states on the Pacific Coast. It is 400 feet deep, 186 miles long and has a water storage capacity of 27,000,000 acre feet.

I haven't been to Lake Mead, but they have several marinas as well (about 2:15 away).

Great thanks for the info.

No place to leave a boat?

Maybe it would be cheaper to just rent a boat a couple times a month.

There are boat storage places in St George if I remember correctly. Take a look at this.

Utah is the second driest state in the country. Boating opportunities are limited by this fact.

As others have stated, Lake Powell and Lake Meade are probably your two best choices when it comes to boating and they are over two hours away.

I owned a power boat for about eight years. I ended up selling it for several reasons. However, a large part of it was that I had trouble justifying storage costs, repair costs, insurance costs, transportation, and operational costs for the limited use we were able to get out of it.

If we do boat again, I will probably go to the Waweap Marina at Lake Powell and rent a boat. These charges are between $200 and $300 a day the last time I looked. However, this is semi-reasonable when you compare it with the costs of owning your own boat. We usually used the boat about 4-5 times per year.

Boating is a lot of fun. However, it is a very expensive hobby when you add everything up.
