Does anyone know when and why the little playground was razed from the north side of Clayton's Glenridge Elementary School? Thanks in advance.

Last time I checked they still have the playground on the se side of the school...the other side for me has always been the soccer field, the blacktop which we used to play soccer, and basketball. Memories lol.

They've been adding onto the school since the passage of prop S. See constructions photo's below.

Thank you for those photos. I was on the site in spring 2010 and the beams were up on the east side and the entire area was boarded off.

You see that little bump out they did on the north side of the building? Right there, in the 1970s to the late 1990s or early 2000s there was a small playground circa mid-1970s. That playground is now gone. I was wondering when that was removed, and if it was removed with the intent of eventually building something there, or whether the playground had simply worn out. For a while it was used as a basketball court, I think. I wondered whether minutes from the City of Clayton meetings with the Board of Aldermen wouldn't contain such information, but before I began requesting agenda and minutes, I was trying to isolate the year of its disappearance.

Default mystery solved

For anyone who was following this, I found the answer to my question. The old Glenridge playground (the one built in the mid-1970s) was razed when the new playground was built in 2006. Info courtesy of the Clayton School District, the Clayton History Society, and the assistant to the mayor.
