Did anyone else try the Hill for dining on Valentine's day? It was crazy, we tried Cunetto's at 5:30...they said it was a 2.5 to 3 hour wait. We drove around the hill for awhile looking for another spot, but there were people everywhere. We gave up and went to Wasabi in Clayton. The wait there was not bad at all.

Just curious if anyone else tried that Saturday or if that's common place?

We went to Lorussos Cucina at Watson near Hampton and couldn't get in. They had put tables in the bar area and had a few hour wait as well. Ended up at JackSon's on Manchester near Hampton and got right in. They had some great Valentine's Day specials but I had a great pasta dish and live entertainment started at 9:30.

I've never tried to go somewhere on Valentine's Day without a reservation, and I'd never go somewhere on V-Day that doesn't take them. It's just asking for chaos.

I would think most nice restaurants would have laughed you out the door if you tried to get a table on the single busiest restaurant day of the year. I worked at an especially non-nice, non-classy place for a while and it was booked solid for Valentine's Day.

I honestly don't know how that post has anything to do with the OP asking if anyone else went to the hill on Valentines day. I also think that nobody, that matters, at a nice restaurant would even think of laughing at you for trying their place. And, sorry for being stupid enough to try going to a restaurant without reservations. The second restaurant we tried was half empty and got seated right away.
