"The Hill" neighborhood;
On high ground south of the River des Peres and Interstate 44 is "The Hill", an area whose population is predominantly of Italian descent. It is bounded on the east by Kingshighway, on the west by Hampton and on the south by Fyler Avenue.

History of St. Louis Neighborhoods - The Hill
Thanks very much AJohnston_STL. I looks like a potentially good area to live.

It is a very nice place to live. They still have SEVERAL neighborhood restaurants (mostly italian), bars, and markets. There is also a Save A Lot nestled right in to the residential neighborhood, so you are all set for groceries on the Hill.

Don't forget the Schnucks on Southwest and local, tiny grocers

Hmm I didn't realize there was a Schnucks on southwest. We go to the Schnucks on Hampton, Save A Lot on Southwest, and Shop N Save on Manchester (Maplewood). I'm gonna have to look that up!

Maybe I'm thinking of Sav-a-lot then too?! I thought there was a newer Schnucks there...Arsenal maybe?

It is a GREAT place to live!

(And BTW, the Schnucks is on Arsenal, between Brannon and Hereford.)

Southwest runs through the center of the Hill SW to NE. Marconi is the main north south route. Hampton is probably the closest 'major' street. Between Hampton and Kingshighway, between I-44 and Arsenal. I know this is kind of confusing, look for the STL Hospital, the big capital dome looking building and head for it....

The Hill District does look like a good area to live.
