I'm looking at a few places near Benton Park, just South of Arsenal on Wisconsin and Illinois. Can anyone give me a little info about the area?

Thanks

The area is very "urban" and diverse. Honestly, some parts are a little run down but those are scattered. It has great access to Cherokee Street's great Mexican food and antique row, obviously close to a mid-sized park, and is very populated. As far as the actual people in the area:
White: 43%
Black: 47%
Hispanic: 6%
Asian: 3%

I live nearby and have access to good info if you need anymore help

The whole area is considered somewhat edgy by non-urban folk. If you are indoctrinated in city living, though, I think you will find that area vibrant with nice housing stock. It is (has been for some time) gentrifying, with some blighted buildings, but also many that are well cared for. The first block of Illinois directly south of Arsenal is a beautiful street scape-- its a cul de sac with blocked access to and from Arsenal, so there is little/no traffic, and it overlooks the park (Benton Park)-- that block has some of the largest & most ornate homes in Benton Park. Then south of Wyoming those two streets are more standard for the area and pretty decent until you get south of Cherokee. South of Cherokee, at least the last time I toured the neighborhood, was pretty raw, and I wouldn't want to live there.
