Our local HEB clinics are promoting vitamin b 12 shots. They say they help increase energy. Has anyone taken these? Do they help? Its $25 for one shot, I don't know how often you should take them.
quite a few years back I was feeling really drained, stressed and just not my energetic self. My family physician gave me a B12 shot and I swear I felt like my old self again for a long time. I think they should give them as often as allowed.
I want another!!!
My daughter is now feeling tired and drained and working long hours and her immune system is just not great. She's been to the doctor more times in the last year than in 10 previous years. The last 2x she asked for a B12 shot and the doctor won't give her one.
Guess asking for one is a no no. They probably think you're a freakin druggie if you want to feel good again and ask for it by name.
Oh, well....I just got one shot, can't hurt, they said it increases energy, I need all the help I can get!
I would not assume, just because V is a moderator, that he/she is correct.
To make an emphatic statement like that without any explanation is, imo, (and especially for a moderator) irresponsible.
People, because of their conditioning, tend to assume that anyone in a position of authority (and yeah, in a weird way a moderator on little CDF is in a position of authority) is somehow more knowledgeable.
This is an erroneous assumption.
People often supplement with Vit B (complex, 12, etc., etc.).
It's very common.
I used to receive vitamin injections.
I found them very helpful.
I loved them.
The magnesium (i think it was the magnesium) in the injection was extremely relaxing.

There's magnesium in the shots? I had a shot this afternoon and felt somewaht sleepy, not what I expected. I was expecting an energy burst, not to feel sleepy. but later I felt energized. its not a "burst" of energy, just more energetic. Hmmm...................maybe there's something to this? The shot is $25 at HEB clinics, no perscription necessary.
I have rheumatoid arthritis and constantly feel drained, perhaps this will help?
Unless you live on tea and toast or have pernicious anemia, B-12 is NOT necessary!
Well, I think the point she is making is that a vitamin deficiency is rare unless your diet is extremely restricted. However, in some cases, such as chronic illness, medications, etc, when vitamin deficiencies can occur. For example< I take methotrexate, which causes a deficiency of folic acid. I take prescribed supplements of folic acid to correct that.
I didn't feel sleepy at all when I got my B12. Glad you did get your burst of energy later though.
I didn't know it had magnesium in it. Did you know if you're low on Magnesium it can cause migraines?
I have just GOT to make myself get back on my magnesium pills since my migraines are now daily.

I didn't need a perscription for a B 12 shot, they just gave it to me at a local urgent care clinic.
