Does this take you to the hotel Oneida??

Google Maps Street View

If so that's the dead center of the city. Hard to see much through the ever present gloom but that eyesore has been empty the 17 years I been here. Right at the cornor of two state highways welcome to Oneida everybody!!

Edit. Nope. Same link. Walk South til the sun turns to gloom. Turn to the left.

I can see the empty head shop the state raided for selling bath salts.

The still open head shop seems to be having a 10% off all bongs sale.

You could also look at a website like Walk Score to help you get an idea about the walkability of a community or for a home in relation to amenities within a community. It isn't necessarily perfect, but it could definitely give some ideas about a community. here is some information using some of the homes posted: 12 Grove Street, Homer NY - Walk Score

4481 Dublin Road, Marcellus NY - Walk Score

24 North Main Street, Earlville NY - Walk Score

26 Maple Avenue, Hamilton NY - Walk Score

2719 East Brutus Street, Weedsport NY - Walk Score

59 West Mohawk Street, Oswego NY - Walk Score

540 Allen Street, Syracuse NY - Walk Score

Here are some others that may work as well: 33 Payne Street, Hamilton NY - Walk Score
CNYHomes - 33 Payne St Hamilton 13346

148 West 5th Street, Oswego NY - Walk Score
CNYHomes - 148 W Fifth Street Oswego City 13126

CNYHomes - 135 E Genesee St Auburn 13021

156 E Genesee St, Auburn NY - Walk Score
CNYHomes - 156 E Genesee St Auburn 13021

8050 Cazenovia Road, Manlius NY - Walk Score

The ghetto is actually on both sides of the link. After five that area is just empty. North of that area it gets real bad. If you know what your looking at you can see it in that view. Head shops and tattoo palors basically.

I have seen worse (Newburgh for instance). For anyone interested here's a link to some pictures of downtown Oneida I took back in 2009:

Oneida, NY Oct. 2009 - a set on Flickr

Some empty storefronts and a bit rough around the edges, but it's got decent bones.

Your last pic, the giant green house?? It was a mansion years ago. No it's all Section 8 apartments. I had a chance to do some work when it was being converted. That house in its day must have been amazing. Woodwork in that house was beyound your wildest dreams all painted over now. The light fixtures are both gas and electric. Gas has been disconnected if coarse. Knob and tube is a given.

The whole area of you pics is sad but if you live here not scary. Almost all those building are completely empty. All the business's in the pictures are gone. It's a dead zone. At least 10 meth labs were raided in that area during the clean out.

Is this true?

Anyway, I think the OP will officially take Oneida off the list.
