How hard is it to bicycle to the happening part of Syracuse from there? Can you bike to the mall or do you have to get on 81? How about Franklin Square?

You can bike it to the mall going down Old Liverpool Road, but traffic would be an issue at times. To get to Franklin Square, it is the same as the mall(Old Liverpool Road to Buckley Road/Park Street), but you would either go on the roadways on the mall property to Franklin or take a right onto Hiawatha Boulevard. I reinterate that traffic would be an issue and the bike infrastructure isn't on the roadways. So, you would have to use the shoulder of the roads.
There is bus access, but you have to keep the bus route times and punctuality in mind.

Yeah, I see what you mean. Old Liverpool Road I think is the road with the low train tracks? I probably wouldn't bike there.
Liverpool is a nice town. If it wasn't for the @#$%& snow I'd buy that Craftsman at 905 Oswego in a heartbeat and fix it up.
Onondaga Lake Parkway is the one with the tracks, and yes you can bike on that as well (but the speed limit is higher and there are no traffic lights or stop signs)

Ahh, yeah that road...too fast! Especially the way I was thinking, which was going to a bar in Syracuse and biking home!

Ohh yeah, I definitely wouldn't do that. When I would go to Syracuse bars, I would usually either have a DD or crash at someone's house. But I was mostly occupied by the Liverpool bars, especially Whitewater Pub
