I am most likely going to buy an iPad but I am also looking at the Samsung Galaxy Tablet 10.1. Rumour has it there will be an iPad3 so I may just settle for a refurbished original iPad until then (if I go with an iPad).

I would appreciate any feedback you can give me.
The HP Touch Pad will be $99 dollars starting today(Sat). I would advise you to pick that one up at that price. You can still get the ipad 3 when it comes out.
I'm also looking for a tablet but being a bit of a tech newb the dizzying array of options is confusing, Basically i want something that can at least function as an
Ereader
MP3 player
access internet.
Send and receive emails
Personal calender.
I'll probably discover how much more these things can do but for the moment they probably do things i've yet to discover.

Where are you seeing that price? For that I'd buy 3 today!
Give it a week or so ($149 at Office Depot for 32G). HP anounced last week that they were dropping out of the Tablet market. Then a few days after that many of the Android based manufacturers followed suit by having $50-$100 price cuts. If you search the net there are already no-name Tablets below the $100 mark. If they're going to charge basically the same price of an IPad, then might as well buy an IPad.
Those other makers are dumping their tablets because they're not selling and being discontinued. The smartphone market is pretty diversified, but tablets are becoming like mp3 players: Apple or nothing.
Office Depot ($125) and BestBuy ($99) were completely sold out of HP Touchpads yesterday (8/20).
I ordered one of the 32GB ones from Best Buy this morning for $149. They were out of the $99 ones. Shortly after I ordered, the 32 GB were unavailable as well.
I really wanted two more (of the 16GB ones) but couldn't find them anywhere. Oh well.
