When I check my Apple cloud storage it’s showing that I’m using 4.1 GB of the complimentary 5 GB.
I have less than 1gb of photos and 3.2 go of mail. Meanwhile I have hardly any emails at all on my iPad and all of the trashed emails have been deleted and the trash emptied so why don’t I have a whole lot more storage?
Pretty interesting that I posted this question on a few different forum sites, plenty of viewers, however no one responded with an answer to my simple question!
Fortunately, I was able to figure it out myself today but I was scratching my head for a while.
My answer would have been that it takes a while for iPad sync to complete when you delete files. iCloud is easy to set up, but as cloud storage goes, it's not very easy to work with when you're trying to do something other than sync up to it.

To my surprise, iCloud backs up everything in the Mail folder and I finally realized that sent mail is also in that folder so it had all of my sent mail for the last 5 years or so on iCloud!
A total waste of space in my case so I erased all 3.5 gb of old sent mail!

Thanks! I checked my cloud, it's not storing that much mail even though I'm terrible about deleting things. Must be different settings..

iCloud makes it easy to go into the settings and specify what you sync. I always turn off email sync, since leaving it on can sometimes result in messages being duplicated in the Inbox.
