I'm just curious as to which professional sports teams do residents of this city tend to follow, as far as MLB, NFL, and NBA are concerned. Atlanta, Orlando, and Tampa are all roughly the same distance from Tallahassee, so I see no geographical bias. Do local television/sports channels tend to favor a specific market(s), for instance how Trenton has the Philly market, Colorado Springs has the Denver market, etc. I'm interested in relocating to Tallahassee sometime, so I'm trying to get a feel for the professional sports vibe. And yes, I'm aware that this is a college city, I'm not asking anything about college sports.

I no longer live in TLH, but I still have family there and visit a few times per year. Before the emergence of the FL pro teams, TLH used to lean towards the Atlanta pro sports teams. That changed about 10 or more yrs ago since most of the TLH growth seems to be from other areas within the state. I believe the Rays are on the Fox Sports cable affiliate for baseball; the Bucs are the NFC broadcast choice, and I believe the Jags are the AFC broadcast choice (not sure about that).

Overall, there is no single pro sports team that has the loyalty of a majority of the TLH residents - mostly a mix of the FL teams with some holdovers (and other southern transplants) that pull for the Atlanta teams.

Alright, much obliged. So I'm assuming that the NBA outlets are the Atlanta Hawks, and Orlando Magic?

I would say the Heat and the Magic. I don't think there has been much of a Hawks following since the Dominique days (which was also before the FL teams).

And I'd speculate that there weren't too many Miami fans before Dwayne Wade got there, lol.

This is great though. Now I'll know which teams to root for, in each respective sport. I'ma keep with the Southern/northern Florida attitude, and roll with the Atlanta sports teams, saying that the television markets in the Florida state capital still broadcast the Hawks, Braves, Falcons, and Thrashers (just kidding ).
