Hi all, I am lucky enough to be admitted to FSU with assistantship offer about 16.9k/10 months. I have no idea about affordable housing in Tal, please shed some light . (I am a poor graduate student , so basically I have to live by with that 16k )

P/S :I also got offer for UConn ,

University of Connecticut - graduate student housing

So I am trying to compare the cost between the two.

Which school offers the best program for your major? FSU has some graduate student housing about a mile from campus and my understanding is that it is fairly old, but not that expensive. There are many alternatives closer to campus that are affordable but the alumni village, as it's called, offers month to month leasing which could allow you to get settled in Tally then find a closer place. Like TD said, FSU will be more fun.

Both schools have strength and weaknesses, but I think FSU has a little bit more advantage in my major but not so much. How much is a typical rent / month (including utility) in Tal ?

Rent per month for an apartment (a 2/2, 3/3, or 4/4) is about $350 - $550.
For a 1/1 you should expect around the $700 range per month.

Utilities vary per person, but I live in a 4/4 and the utilities for the winter (we weren't using the A/C) have been around $40/month per person. In August and September it was around $60/month per person.

My apartment includes cable, but some don't, and my friends have told me that cable here is "very expensive."

If you only get wifi, no cable, it would be about $30/month.
