I’m considering taking a job in Tallahassee, and I want to know if moving there would be financially prudent. If I were to take the job, my salary would be around $25,400/annually. I’m single and have no kids. This would be my only source of income. I don’t know anyone in the area, so I have absolutely no idea what the cost of living would be for someone in my situation. Thoughts?

Due to Tallahassee being home to many tens of thousands of college students, rent can be high. It's been years since I've looked into the rental market there, but it may be tough to make it on that income unless your income is projected to significantly increase over time.

It really just depends on your lifestyle though. You can make it work if you are a frugal person.

That kind of salary is WAY too low to justify a move. I wouldn't do it.

If you can find a cheap rental and or a roommate you could make it work. It all depends on your lifestyle and wants and needs.

I wouldn't move anywhere for $25K. Tally is not horribly expensive but unless you move in to a 3 bedroom house with two roommates sharing rent and utilities that's not enough money.

Where are you moving from? Yes rethink that move. Florida is not really as cheap as some think it is.

The Cost of Living is low when compared to the rest of the state. However, wages are lower here as well. Definitely something to keep in mind.
