So totally awesome. Do the right thing, Rick Scott. Take the money, build the rail and put our state to work on the project. I, for one, will get a lot of use out of this rail system.

I would just park and go to orlando or miami for the weekend, because I live IN Tampa... i guess if i lived in the burbs a light rail would be very important to me.

Light rail, rapid bus service, and local bus routes (every 15-30) minutes including short- and long- term parking have been part of the overall plan for a long time. There are many links to the plan docs in other threads here on the Tampa Forum. If you can't find them and you're interested, write us back here and one of us can link you to it.

Instead of belittling others, had you bothered to read/research the long term plan that's been linked on this forum repeatedly, you would already know that multimodal transportation options (light rail, parking, buses, etc) have been part of the Metropolitan Plan since its inception some 15 years ago. Give me a break.

I'm more concerned about our growing national debt more than a rail system that'll likely go underutilized.

I would be happy with ability to hit orlando or miami once in a while. Also building such system would but people to work who would have money to spend on local economy.

Honestly believe that? Not everyone wants the same result as a NORTHERN city in this country nor do we need to build exactly like them to be successful

If anyone thinks this is going to be fully utilized, please read my post regarding our ill-fated Tampa-Orlando HSR and let me know what you think.

^Rick Scott has to accept this from a jobs standpoint or else that whole "Let's get to Work," will seem silly and take a little longer. Plus I'm not sure a guy who believes in less government spending is going to want to accept the financial burden this system will put on our state for years to come even in a best case scenario.
