Which would you recommend? They are both just barely over an hour from me in Brandon. I've heard both of them are amazing beaches to go to.. so, we decided we want to go to the beach tomorrow for the first time since we've moved here. We have family in town too who wants to go, so which should we go to?

(Both is not an option tomorrow, we have a newborn so I really dont want to stay out all day)

I like Indian Rocks since it isn't as built-up as, say, Clearwater Beach. I don't have much experience with Anna Maria, but hopefully somebody will chime in.

I have never been to Indian Rock beach. I hear nothing but good things about it. I do like Anna Maria Island. I go towards the end where there is a nice restaurant right on the beach Sandbar Waterfront Restaurant on Anna Maria Island, Florida serving Fresh Florida Seafood. It is a quiet place. Parking can be difficult. Not sure what it will be like this time of year since I only go in the summer.

Anna Maria. Beaches are incredibly beautiful there, I like them better than Siesta or any of the beaches in Pinellas. Several restaurants right on the beach and bay there, also. Just a great "old Florida" vibe. Enjoy!

Definitely Anna Maria or even consider Longboat Key or Lido Key just to the south. Those are places we go for a long weekend when we want to drive 45 minutes and feel like we're in a different place. Lido Key is nice because it is adjacent to St. Armand's Circle- a great place to take a stroll and grab a meal, drink, or ice cream after a day at the beach.

Nothing against Indian Rocks, don't get me wrong. We'd go there for an afternoon at the beach any day. I agree with Gypsychic that the beaches just south of Pinellas are more compelling in most cases. All of the beaches here are nice, it is hard to go wrong.

Sadly, today's weather isn't suitable for beach going. It's certainly warm enough, but it's been rainy and gloomy all morning. I hope the weather is better at the beach! Let us know what you did today!
