Since there are tons of Canadians in Florida, which banks are most easy to deal with for Line of Credits, Mortgages and Credit cards etc...?
It used to be pretty much impossible to do cross border banking, but last September, I was able to get a Macy Credit Card in Sarasota. Apparently, Macy's computers can check my Canadian credit history.
I do have a US SSN and recently purchased a property in Florida, if that helps.

Where are you in Florida? We recently bought property, and set up an RBC US account beforehand. They have a substantial presence, with scattered branches, one in Tampa, and and another one on the peninsula (Largo I think), and a good online presence, with easy transfers between the countries and credit cards.

RBC is talking about selling this business unit, so who knows what will happen. TD also has a substantial presence, so I'm thinking if RBC bails, we will switch to them, but don't know many details.

I have a place in Sarasota. I did see two RBC branches there. My parents seems to like St Pete, so I am lurking around here to learn more about the area.
About 10 years ago, I went to a TD branch out in CA to inquire on this topic an they told me straight out that they are different and could not help. Did you go to RBC branch in Tampa for your account?

No, I arranged it from here in Toronto. I now do everything online, or by telephone. Works very well. If you go to the RBC website, you should be able to find it. It's called "Access USA".
