Fort Desoto (Paw beach) by fare the best one in the area since you don't have to keep your dog on a leash...unfortunately they will raise the toll to $ 5.00 later this year.
I have been to another dog beach but keeping the dog on the leash is horrible. We have an English Bulldog who likes to stand in the water but rarely swims...so we can't go further since we don't have the long leash. He will not move for the sea line when we are in the water and we don't go that far and mostly one person is close to him but sometimes we want to stand further in the water so our other dog can come swimming to us...I hated that other beach and we had to pay $ 7.50 to enter the park.
Fort Desoto is the best for dog lovers and most dog owners with dogs that are not so trustful will keep their dog on a leash...we never had any issue other then one dog owner whose dog did his part on a lot of bags to show his territory.
