Hello everyone,
I am going to be moving to Tampa sometime in the next few months, and would like some advice on good areas for families with kids. I currently live in Seminole County outside Orlando, and would be working in South Tampa on Dale Mabry just south of Kennedy. From what I understand this is a good area to live as well, however my price range would be in the $150 - $175 range. I dont mind a bit of a commute (30 minutes or so)- I have read that Carrollwood is a good area- can anyone tell me how long that commute is?
I have (2) boys 6 and 12 so schools are a top priority. I would consider renting for a short time as well while I get a feel for the area.
We would love to be close to the water to go boating (bay, canal etc) but it is not as important as good schools.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

South Tampa is a desirable area and all the schools are good. Carrollwood is just outside the city limits and has different developments with different styles of homes (built in the 60s to present). I think most of Carrollwood's schools are good, but I'm not sure. The commute would probably be anywhere from ten to twenty minutes straight down Dale Mabry.

I don't think you have find many options in South Tampa for 150k-175k price range.
