Thanks for posting that map. I was just about to ask if sinkholes were relevant in the New Tampa, Wesley Chapel areas east of 75.

Sinkholes in the News By Morgan Barfield
Citizens receives 32.8% rate increase
Through a lot of speculation and frankly anger and protest, we finally have an answer to how much more can Citizens charge. We have gone from 2,000% percent to 400% to 50% and the final numbers fell at 32.8% on average. This number can fluctuate of course. Pasco and Hernando Counties who are most commonly associated with sinkhole claims will see an average increase of $300-400. This is small in comparison to what the increase could have been but still enough to discourage many homeowners from paying for the extra coverage. That means that even if it is a small victory, it is a victory for Citizens.

I live in a condo way south end of Pinellas. Our insurance went up too and I do not think there are any sink holes near here. Perhaps it is an increase based on flood insurance. I am going to check it out. UGH!

I don't know, I think the insurance companies are making a lot of money here in FL. We are relocating out of the states. Our renters ins and car insurance premiums are going to cut in half. It has been years since I owned a home in Florida, glad I am not stuck with the home owners ins problems many are having in this state.

I expect to see a new MIAMI strip in this area- no more low income, retirees, welfare or middle class owners.. . they will make it too expensive to stay. As in Miami Beach etc at min of $300 per SQ.FT a lot of folks moved from that beach. a new MECCA for the wealthy

You can thank your fellow homeowners who saw free money for frivolous claims that would be deemed normal settling anywhere else in the country but instead raked thousands upon thousands for sinkhole claims.

THANKS!

ok, you can go back to blaming insurance companies.
