Specifically, the places around the Air Force Base. How do you compare these two places.

1) The people (ethnicity, culture, education level, etc.)

2) The weather (I guess there are less hot summer months in Tampa)

3) The atmosphere (culture, things to do, etc.)

4) Housing Cost (owning single home or townhouse)

More in Tampa, last time we went through Homestead there wasn't much going on besides some sub divisions and nothing else. Seemed like a large suburb. When driving into Homestead from Miami you don't even notice it unless someone is pointing it out!

Tampa wins on all counts if your choice is between the base in Homestead and McDill! I'd choose McDill.

McDill is at the southern tip point. What's north of McDill? How's the neighborhood north of it?

Overall it is nice, South Tampa has a lot of nice areas, its close to the city, unlike Homestead which is quite a drive from Miami...definitely a Loooooong night out! LOL

But in Tampa, you're also having St Pete across the bridge, and the best beaches around, it is the overall set up of the base that makes it more atractive, you have a lot of choices in St Tampa housing wise.

It has from apartments to million dolar homes, take your pick basically.

Homestead can be nice if you are actually looking for quiet/rural. Otherwise biggest selling point for Homestead is proximity to Florida Keys.

What about proximity to Miami and kinda short weekend drive to Fort Lauderdale/Pembroke Pines?
