Might go to Tampa as my first year of college. I want to know if anyone has done something similar and how they felt. I really want to experience life on my own and have that feeling of independence but is Tampa too far for someone straight outta High School. Two reasons I chose Florida is obviously the warm weather and also there is a wrestling company there FCW that really interest me and it's only ten minutes away from UT.

Also if anyone knows about college let's say I didn't like being so far are there any fees associated with leaving after the first semester ?

What is your specific draw to UT and Tampa in general? UT is a very expensive private university with an average reputation outside of Florida. Tampa is a great city however, so I can't fault you for wanting to live here.

In my opinion, you don't want to waste a year of private tuition if you are not committed to living in Tampa. Attending community college (HCC) or USF for a couple years would be more cost effective and less risky that spending 30K on 1 year at UT. You would still be able to experience living on your own, but you wouldn't be as committed, should you decide the city is not for you.

I don't think there are any fees associated from leaving the university except for the loss of tuition paid.

USF would be just as expensive, if not more, due to out-of-state tuition.

There is one of our regulars on this forum who is from UT. Perhaps he could tell you.
But like somebody else posted here , what you would lose is your tuition plus all the expenses for moving in to the University.
One semester is such a short time to decide if you like UT or not. It probably takes more than that. So why do you think you might not like it?
College life is going to be different whether you come here or any other school, and it should be one of the best times for you.

Good Luck with choosing your school!

Well I didn't really apply to many colleges and had only a handful of choices. Many of my CUNY and SUNY schools didn't rate to well (according to Collegeprowler.com) and plus I want to dorm. My Dad won't pay for a dorm in New York City since we live in the 5 boroughs. New Haven is too expensive , York College in PA has too many white people (No offense I just want diversity) and St. Johns is expensive + my Dad won't let me dorm.

As far as my attraction to Tampa the wrestling school that is 10 minutes away is my main reason. The warm weather opposed to the cold NY winters. Also the way I see things is I'm gonna be 18 this summer I might as well live in other states while I still have the chance. I'm studying Criminology I feel once I establish my career and have kids I'm going to be grounded in New York for 20+ years till I retire. I just want to experience living in other places in this case Florida before I get tied down with my career.

Or my other option would be to not go to any school do more research and start school in January.

Thanks for all the answers.

UT is a good school that attracts a lot of students from the NE. You'll discover that wrestling has its roots in the Bay area. If that's really what you want to expose yourself to, do it! But you seem fickle in your post which may be why you're not receiving a lot of solutions. I would come to UT, enjoy your time there, and check the wrestling scene to see if that's really what you want to do.
