Friendship Trail Bridge gets another reprieve | TBO.com

Quote:
Hillsborough commissioners bucked their staff's recommendations and voted unanimously to delay awarding a contract to demolish the 56-year-old Friendship Trail Bridge.
Translation: Hillsborough Commissioners are gutless and are delaying any decision until after their elections in November.

Absolutely Gutless

It's amazing anything gets done around here. Pathetic...

I hope a piece of the bridge crumbles and seriously injures someone and they sue the board for negligence.

Maybe someday Citizens will oust politicians for doing nothing instead of doing something that makes a select few upset.

Yes, it has been condemned because it is literally crumbling apart and is unsafe

Any normal municipality would have demolished it by now...

But no, we live in petticoat junction run by roscoe, ellie may, tyrone and jethro as commissioners and they are more interested in getting elected than doing the right thing.

Yes, big chunks have already fallen into the Bay, and if you are boating they have signs up to watch out.

They will end up tearing it down because spending money on a huge miles-long bridge just for people to walk on is ridiculous.

That's correct, but they dont have the courage to do it before the election.

But ironically, they are making a big grandstanding show about the "Regent" which the morons voted in favor of a couple years earlier...

Election year politics is pathetic

Let's be rational here. How much money does it cost to get the pedestrian bridge operational in both initial costs and maintenance?

It's something that should be considered, depending on the price. you people with your bare-minimum governments will only succeed at having a mediocre quality of life because when you demand the cheapest possible, all you're doing is surviving. great cities go above and beyond just surviving.

More than 1$. If you want to walk, jog, bike, there are literally hundreds of miles of roads, sidewalks, trails which you can do such that already exist and arent falling into the ocean.
