So you all know the city of Tampa has been going around beautifying things in downtown tampa

Planting new trees along all the streets of downtown, bayshore, etc

Right up to this week, they were still doing it, painting, making things pretty.

And then... wait for it... what do they do???

They put HUGE ****ING FENCES ALL AROUND IT!!!

You cant make this stuff up!!!

Downtown looks like a combination of "Escape from New York" and Detroit with fences all around buildings, **** boarded up, bars on windows...

Un ****ing real, City of Tampa leadership are a bunch of scared ******* with no clue

How much money was spent beautifying ****, then boarding it up so you cant even see it? What was the point of that??

It is like one of those apocalyptic movies, where the military is trying to control the raging civilians... It looks like another world down there. Huge rusty fences and big concrete blockades... Saturday morning at 10am, we just stopped at the Starbucks in the basement of the embassy suites on our way out of town. Really unreal. Not to mention the multiple helicopters overhead, the Jesus nut with his blow horn already on the corner, all the people with suits and badges...

And issac is coming....

I'll be happily be watching it all unfold on our TV from the coast of Carolina!

The spending of tens of millions of tax payers money on security is because with out it i guess Romney will be immediately shot .
Why not save a whole bunch of money and just give him a gun that way he can protect his own butt instead of the government doing it for him...Isnt that what he's all about, less government intervention in peoples lives?

With all the money being spent they are still looking for free labor. Care to volunteer. All these people out of work and they can't find the money to pay them.

Aren't the fences temporary though?

Everyone should be prepared for downtown Tampa to be rather...interesting...over the next few days. Too many strange things happen at large political events.

Geez, I wonder what idiot thought this up? Why didn't they just spend that money on extra Police patrols to guard the area? That would of created some jobs and spread the money back to folks who need the overtime. I'm sure they would do a much better job than those butt-ugly fences.

I really think we need to start drug testing our politicians.

There's a lot of symbolism in spending so much money for an event that for all practical purposes is pomp and ceremony. Gov't lives beyond its means as evidenced by the current 14 trillion deficit, so why not do the same thing on a smaller scale during a convention.

Would you suggest the same for the DNC and Obama? They are spending more taxpayer money there.
