My husband and I have been debating whether to live in Orlando (and go to UCF) or Tampa (and go to USF) for months. We have finally decided on Tampa...and we are so excited!!

So now that our decision is made we'd like some advice on where to live. Hubby's employer is allowing him to attend grad school and he will be going to USF. We'd like to be close so the commute isn't horrific, but not too close. We are in our mid 30's and we have two toddlers (1,3). We want to be in a safe, family friendly area. Since this move is temporary we will be renting and would like to pay no more then $2000 per month.

We were thinking of renting a house, but we really don't want to maintain a yard. We are trying to maximize the this time. Hubby has been in either Iraq or Afghanistan the last couple of years and we really want to use this time to relax, reconnect and have FUN. Maybe we should just forget being close to USF and opt to live near the beach?? Decisions, decisions, at least we know where we are going...for now

The beach commute would be horrible. With your budget you should look around south Tampa, Harbour Island, and Davis Island.

maybe you should check out the New Tampa area and quail hollow area all which are nice. Land O Lakes
is also a nice area. many places in the new tampa are as seven oaks, hunters green peeple creek and
(fairways of quail hollow off 54 and near 75 }have hoas and the lawn is done for you. Meadow point also
is nice. You also maybe should contact a good real estate person who may help you price wise with
what you need. in the areas I did mention a house with lawn done should maybe rent for 1200 or 1300 no where near the 2000.

For the sake of your commute, I suggest looking at places on Bruce B Down in New Tampa, or Carrollwood. If you can choose the St Pete Campus then it would make sense to live in Pinellas County, otherwise your commute will be hell.

neat map and I do agree about the traffic on Bruce B Downs
Seven Oaks I think they would enjoy and 56 also is there.
I did mean Pebble Creek which may have some nice rentals mis typed

Tampa >>>> Orlando. Well done.

I used to drive from Carrollwood to USF every day. Not a big deal. Plenty in that area for $2000.
The closer you can get to downtown/South Tampa/Ybor, the more "fun" options you'll have. I'm not a big fan of New Tampa and Bruce B Downs, personally.

Me neither, but if I had to make that choice I would choose Carrollwood hands down. However, everything on BBD is closer...so, it would save me gas for more beach trips. Its a lifestyle trade off...
