The problem with rail is how will everyone get to and from the train stations? There will still be problems.

Bike N Ride is common for light rail plans. Also feeder buses. Ain't rocket science; it's been done done done in almost every other Metro area. We are behind the times here.

Once car drivers get stuck on I-75/275/4 and spend hours to get from point A to point B in the area, they'll be looking for alternative transportation - right now it hasn't gotten to that point.......if the price of gas goes back up to nearly $4+, then alternative transportation will become popular. This area just hasn't gotten to that point yet - but will in the decades to come.

But that all just adds time to everyone's commute which may discourage anyone from using rail. And biking in rainy season doesn't work out very well. If you park and ride, how do you know the cars will be safe? What if drivers have to go out of their way just to get to a train station? I just think there'll be too many problems.

Well, in 2008, gas hit $4 a gallon. There was panic and everyone saying they couldn't afford to get to work and couldn't sell off their trucks and SUVs because they were worthless. Well here we are 7 years later and we haven't learned our lesson because drivers continue to use massive, heavy, gas guzzling, oversized vehicles that get seem to get bigger and bigger every year. You would think that 7 years later, after all that panic, we'd be conserving gas better by now.

Building light rail will just get more and more expensive the longer it's delayed. SMART planning/government starts projects like this before they're needed. Plus, building light rail will INCREASE growth. It's that vision thing.

You need to get out more...as in, travel and see MASS TRANSIT is EVERYWHERE. Some how everyone who uses it, manages quite well, thank you. Portland, Seattle both have mass transit...rains there too, eh?

You're arguing against mass transit like it's a pact with the devil.

Billions of dollars would be required. Land has to be purchased, buildings torn down, a couple of decades for construction, purchase of the trains, staff to run the system - just for starters.

You can thank our lovely Governor Scott for rejecting the Federal Government's offer of 2.4 billion dollars to build a high speed rail line from Tampa to Orlando. The private sector was willing to cover any additional expenses that would have been incurred.

As far as public transportation goes for the Tampa area, besides the YBOR Channelside Trolley, there is nothing.
