Hello. I'm 21 and my boyfriend is 25 and were moving to the Tampa area at the very end of the year and I'm attending HCC to get a degree in Hospitality. I've been doing a lot of research but I would like some advice on what area to live in. I realize these questions have been asked repetitively but living in Hyde park for 1,200 a month when we first get down there isn't a option. Our budget for an apartment is between 700-850 first moving down there. I've been looking a lot near the Hillsborough river, Egypt lake, and North Tampa. Is this a bad decision? It's a pretty close drive to Dale Mabry campus and I'll be working at a hotel/hospitality job and he is a diesel mechanic. The only thing I'm worried about is crime and traffic. Is this a terrible area to commute from? and of course we don't want to be too far from restaurants and bars.

Your responses are appreciated! Thank you!

I would suggest maybe trying to get a place in Seminole Heights or Riverside Heights. If you find something in these neighborhoods you could always post the general address and we can tell you if we think it is within the safer boundaries. Commute would not be bad at all.
