Looks as if DH may be taking a job in Oldsmar. Out of the following cities, where do you consider the most family friendly, safest, with good schools, and best overall area? We're currently looking into:

- Oldsmar/ Westchase
- Citrus Park
- Carrollwood/ Northdale
- Palm Harbor/ Tarpon Springs
- We love Safety Harbor too but it seems a bit too pricey for us.

Anywhere close(ish) to Oldsmar that we're missing?

* Should we be concerned about sinkholes?
* Being close to the water isn't a deciding factor for us
* We don't mind "cookie cutter" areas

Thanks in advance!

Don't throw out Safety Harbor ... there are deals to be had there if you find a good agent and are ready to jump on the right listing when it becomes available. The lifestyle here is TOTALLY worth the wait! I personally see another bubble happening - prices here are going up too quickly, and it's just a matter of time before something happens to bring them down again. We've been here almost 3 years now and absolutely love it. There's no place like it in the Tampa Bay area.

Awesome! Thanks FloridaGirl77!! Safety Harbor looks great, hopefully if we rent somewhere first we'll be able to make something like that happen

Any suggestions on the surrounding areas?

Palm Harbor is a good alternative.

I'm not seeing Countryside on a map... where exactly is that?

Are the other places I listed relatively nice areas??

As others have said, Countryside might be a good choice. It's actually an area north of Clearwater near SR 580, east of US 19. I don't think it's a city. It borders Safety Harbor. Countryside Mall is a good landmark to help you see where it is on a map.

The Eastlake Woodlands neighborhood in Oldsmar is really nice. I almost bought there. I like Palm harbor as well.

Oldsmar is a good area, there are all types of homes there , from millions to low prices.
Countryway and Eastlake are also nice areas to live. Safety Harbor is next to Oldsmar with all types of homes too.

Are sinkholes a major concern in these areas? Where would you consider the safest place(s) out of the cities listed?
