Hi!

I need some help... I'm moving to the St. Pete/Tampa area here in December. I'm a single girl in her 20s. I need help with suggestions on what apartment complexes to look at in the area? I am interested with something that has night life with other people in my age range. I was hoping to find something close to the beach and close to any night life in St. Pete/Tampa. Let me know of any suggestions! Thanks!

Forget the beach, there's nothing there. Your choices are simple: South Tampa (Hyde Park, South Howard Ave, Kennedy Blvd) and St Pete (downtown, extending bit north and west). South Tampa is a little bit more of a fratty vibe than St Pete. Both areas have a lot of apartments and condos within walking distance of bars. St Pete would obviously be much shorter drive to the beach.

From what I've experienced, St Pete has a more "laid back" vibe. South Tampa's vibe is not nearly as laid back and I see a lot more senseless drama going on.. South Tampa does have a much larger singles demographic though.

What about some of the new highrise apartments near/at Channelside? My D is looking at Skyhouse. She is also single and in her mid-20s.

From a work acquaintance who lives in Ybor that has friends in the Channelside District, be careful. They say that some of the complexes in Channelside are like college dorms.

I'll see if I can get some clarification from them tomorrow and follow up.

Last I checked St Pete was getting a real fratty vibe. MacDintons sure seems that way and the beer bus each weekend. Not fratty? Na not true. I seen my share of it here. South Tampa could have either moved there or something but then others say ST isn't as fratty as people make it sound so you have to go by your own experiences but if you think St Pete didn't become like a fratty vibe, think again. Its in pockets of downtown and possibly on the beach.

St Pete is becoming what you describe though, it just may not be in full transformation yet. Its losing its laid back vibe. I can feel things in the air and the way people drive is an excellent indicator. Many selfish jerks over here now too.

A lot going on in St Pete for your age group in the south. A lot of rentals at North End of St Pete. Beaches are near 20 minutes to the West. Try Dunedin small safe town a range of ages with lots to do. Clearwater beach near by. Good luck on your search. Gotta to look around though. Be safe
