Let me preface this by saying that I am not complaining in any way

And this is purely an observation by my wife and I

We have lived in Land O Lakes for the past two months, my wife works in Tampa and I am usually in the Clearwater, Oldsmar and Tarpon Springs areas a few times a week.

Based on our observations it seems as if its more often cloudier and rainier in Land O Lakes than in many other parts of the Tampa area.

Just curious if anyone else has ever had the same thoughts or observations.

Thanks

naturally it will be cloudier more inland than over the bay and near the gulf. The gulf breeze helps deter systems from forming

It varys big time in the Tampa area. People on the coast see much less rain than people in Lutz , Brandon and points east of the coast 12 to 25 miles. Since we are in a reverse west windflow most of every summer, storms start to build up around 12 miles inland and move toward the east coast and peeps on the west coast miss out day after day. If it were not for the 13 days of heavy rain we had in late July and early Aug i would have only had 5" of rain total since June 1st.

So you notice that at the end of the day when it is especially prone to rain, by chance during your commute home, that the weather is worse than mid day when you look out your office window? Sounds highly suspicious.

Never mind that the past two months has been our rainy season. See if you feel differently Oct-May.

checked wunderground just for grins...

stations picked totally at random
looking at data sept 2014 through sept 2015
