Moving to St. Pete in a few days - Trulia (apartments, to rent)

Hey everyone,

I hope to hit the road on Monday. Will find a weekly efficiencyI guess while I look at apartments and I will have to choose one pretty quick.

Could someone please tell me if the crime map on Trulia is accurate.??

I saw a few things I liked and then when I looked at that map it was all red and orange.
Some showed heavy crime in areas I thought were low crime.. hummmm.

for example the area south of crescent lake 5th ave N to 12th Ave N..

and over in Kenwood north and south of Central Ave.

I am still deciding what kind of apartment to rent.

A place with a pool sounds nice for my aching fibromyalgia body but a complex would not be good as I am an artist, I play guitar and record and I also want to set up a big sewing space and work on my designs…
I am sure even an acoustic guitar (I play excellent BTW) could get on neighbors nerves, and the sound of a sewing machine running off and on could travel through the thin walls some apartments have…
so I guess my best bet is a garage apt or duplex or a cheep broken down bungalow. I am not a picky princess when it comes to kitchen counters and stuff. Just want a safe area where I can work and be part of the art community.

I will be living alone for now until hubby can join me , will have friends coming to visit, traveling some every few months, single white female hippy artist type..

I started looking into industrial art/live/work space.. in Kenwood where the other artists seem to be working. 1st and 2nd ave S 20th st.

any thoughts appreciated..
