Wife and I are looking at a potential 2nd home in Tarpon Springs and are curious about the Stauffer site. Apart from google searching, which I am doing, is there anything particular about the longer term effects that people are noticing from living near it?

We're looking to take a visit and see it in person soon, and it looks like there's a handful of waterfront properties that are right across the waterway from it.

While it might be nothing, it's also in the back of the mind to us, since we're not privvy to the nuances of what exactly went on over there.

Thanks for any tips or info.

Thanks yep read dozens and dozens of things in press/online, but that article was 4 years ago.

Would be really curious to know firsthand of folks who live there and can speak to things personally.

And I believe an EPA or city official who says everything's just peachy like I believe next Thanksgiving's turkey won't be just as dry & overcooked as last year's.

I absolutely CANNOT believe they are letting them build on that site. My mom worked there in the early 80's right before it closed. It's an ecological disaster. I would not live anywhere near it.

Please please please! Stay away from places like that! I cannot believe they claim this land is ready for new use! Talking about double standards...

Agreed. Seems like a recipe for disaster. "The Springs Have Eyes".
Not to mention, the US 19 corridor from Palm Harbor to Spring Hill in Pasco County just seems like the boulevard of broken dreams anyway. Any and all of the weird crime news and stories of general depravity from Pasco always happens out there. Always. I'd stay away from Tarpon Springs and the surrounding areas just based on that.
