I asked for the numbers to back that up and received none. I'm going to HIGHLY doubt that the majority (or even a sizable number) of students live Downtown.

Ah... One development in Downtown Tampa backs up this claim. Got it.

Kennedy, Pierhouse, Bell. Obviously you don't live or hang in Channelside.

Once again, I ask for numbers... Not anecdotal evidence.

My almost 25-year old son moved to Tampa two years ago and LOVES it. He is so happy. There are plenty of 20 somethings. We are from NY. I've visited several times and agree - it is a very nice city.

That was good. The comments at the bottom of the article were enlightening, with attacks sprinkled here and there.

I don't think you can surf there, so I was told. And surfing is like a religion to those who ride waves. So if you can't surf, what does your son LOVE about Tampa besides the lack of snow?

Hi. First of all he loves the weather. He went to school in upstate NY for five years and had enough cold and snow to last a lifetime. He actually has a lot of friends from his NY college who settled there and has made many new friends via his job. He loves sports (all sports, any sports) and purchased Buc's season's tickets for maybe $300? and loved going to the games. He was actually able to sell a couple of tickets so I believe he more-or-less broke even. He gets free tickets to Bolts games from work sometimes but if they are not free, they are affordable to buy. The cost of living is so much less than it is here. A young person, with a decent salary ($30,000 or so) can afford to live here with a roommate (he has a roommate). He loves the beaches. Plays in a local soccer league. Great night life. Lots of young people. He's very happy.

Coincidentally, my older daughter is probably accepting a job in Tampa today. She is trying to decide between two offers - one there, and one in DC. Given the job and the lower cost of living, the Tampa job is probably the better choice BUT she is very leery about the weather. That is the one thing that is holding her back. So, I may have TWO kids living in Tampa.
