I've seen signs along the roadway before entering MacDill about new buildings to be constructed.

Which reminds me, getting through the front gate can take awhile as well. I was stuck waiting to get in at 1:30 pm as the after lunch crowd was returning to work......I believe the early morning gate access is also a PITA....just a part of security. Most working for the gov't, military have become used to it after 9/11 but unfortunately adds to the commute time tremendously......

If you know anything about Fort Bragg, the traffic there is horrible. We only lived about 10 miles from base, but the commute was easily 30-40 minutes with the traffic, and waiting at gates. I guess I sort of expected that. I will have clinic hours, 730-430p. Presumably the rush hours? I was hoping there would be several gates, with different routes, but that doesn't seem like the case.

North_Pinellas_Guy, thanks for your input. My son actually had an allergy to a hamster which is how he developed asthma. Wierd, I know. We don't know of any environmental allergens that aggravate his asthma, but he is not a severe case. No daily meds, rescue inhaler maybe once every few months.

This board has been super helpful. There are good and bad things wherever you move, and different opinions on those things. I will adapt either way

I'm a Tampa native, and I am actually leaving the state because I just can't take the heat and humidity anymore. It's beautiful here, and the beaches are super close, and there's also springs with 72 degree water in driving distance for the really hot days, but honestly after living here for almost 40 years I just can't take it anymore.

The closer you are to the coast, so that means only parts of Hillsborough county, and good portions of Pinellas county, you will have more breezes to offset the humidity a bit. But inland, in all counties, it can get pretty hot and it stays humid all the time except for a few sporadic weeks out of the year. Not trying to dissuade you or anything, just being honest. I think it's about equivalent with most places I've been in North Carolina in terms of heat and humidity. But NC gets reprieves in the form of other seasons. Florida has one season, with some cold fronts here and there.

I love it here, it's my home, but I won't miss the heat.
