Has anyone else received The American Community Survey in the Tampa Bay area? (mortgage)

Personally, It looks very official, but there are way to many questions about income, mortgage payment, employment history.

It says that this is coming from the Dept of Commerce. Each page is light green. Has anyone else received this kind of survey in the last 4 week?

There are so many scams out there.

I have not received it. I found an interesting article about it from a couple of years ago: On Your Side Alert: Legit or Scam? American Community Survey - NBC12 - WWBT - Richmond, VA News On Your Side

In that article they say that it is not a scam but that certainly someone could try to fake it and use it as a scam. I fund several other links discussing it, including the Census Bureau. In each one they say the Census Bureau runs it, so if yours says it is the Department of Commerce it is probably worth contacting the Department directly to verify it is legit. As I am sure you know you should look up the Department's number rather than using a number that may have been provided in the materials you received.

So I guess this Survey is more specific to the person getting it. kind of like the political polls, where 1,000 people are asked, who will you vote for in an election and the results represent the rest of the country.

ACS is not SCAM. We use data collected by them among other sources every year. A number of socio-economic data they collect is available for others to use. Make sure you got the right paper.
