Doesn't even feel like you're at a baseball game when you go to the Trop.

Isn't all that running bad for your knees?

I'd be happy to talk to you in the fitness forum about running if you're interested in starting.

I have been wanting to start jogging, but plantar fasciitis + being fat doesn't do me any favors.

if you're serious and not being facetious, I'd begin w/ walking 30-60 mins (plenty of places if you're in Tampa proper, I enjoy the Riverwalk)......if you can't tolerate walking due to your ailment, try biking for the same amount of time along Bayshore BLVD (another good place to walk plus check out the hot chicks). Always make sure you're properly hydrated. Eventually do some walk/run. Jeff Galloway has plenty of youtubes on this.

Fasciitis - check out YOUTUBE. I'd try placing a golf ball under your sole and role it on a hard surface to ease the pain. Try ice massage or heat to see if those two help.

Walk-Bike before running.....only run after losing a little weight, imo, or you'll be miserable....also, buy a heart rate monitor and don't run any faster than 120-130 heart rate. If you have to walk to keep that rate, then only walk. Try not to run to rates higher than 150 or you'll be miserable. HR monitors were what made running more fun and tolerable.

Heart rate monitor will assist you - you're likely running too fast. Slow it down to keep a HR at about 130/min and if it means a slow trot, it's recommended you do that.

I did buy a parking pass at USF as far away from campus as possible. Forces me to walk at least four times a week. I'll have to go back to the golf ball. Didn't have much luck the first time.

Very good start. I know that during these months, you're drenched when you get to class, unfortunately. And you have to give yourself more time to get to class (I always had the worst parking while at USF).
