Is there anybody who has lived in both Jacksonville and Tampa and would comment about the overall traffic of both cities? Is the traffic comparable or is the traffic worse in Tampa?

I lived in both and like everything there are all kinds of variables. All in all I think rush hours are far worse now in Tampa - I don't mean volume, I mean congestion.

Here's a suggestion. Download the free Inrix traffic app to your mobile device. When the app opens, you will see your local traffic based on your GPS location. You can zoom out and then adjust the location to Tampa or Jacksonville. Check the traffic during commute hours for both cities several times a week to get a better picture of what to expect. I have attached 2 screenshots, one of Jacksonville and one from Tampa from May 17, 2018 9:22 AM EDT. Green is obviously clear, but when you see red and even worse, very dark red, the traffic is backed up. The app is extremely accurate. I use it every time I'm on a road trip, even on short trips. It has saved me many hours of being stuck in traffic.

By the way, I live in the Mid-Atlantic region, but check the traffic patterns in Tampa frequently with this app, as I am planning to move there in the near future.

Traffic in both places is equally a pain in the rear ... Jacksonville seems worse// just because the distances are much larger/longer than in The Cigar City.

Duval County and Jacksonville are HUGE !!!!

This is my experience as well. It will depend on your times and routes, but overall congestion seems worse in the Tampa region.
