Not everyone is willing to disclose they filed a claim for a free roof. In the where I reside it was maybe 60% or higher that got new roofs. Many homeowners and roofers were informing how lucrative that was.

After having my roof examined by a trustful roofer that didn't do any roofs for insurance claims like so many did, I was told the shingles were really bad and I saw how bad. My roof was thousands of dollars cheaper than a roofer who gave me a quote to use my insurance. How shocking is that!

These roofing companies should be out of business. JMO.
Me, my dad, my bf; Never ever ever filed one claim in over 40 years. H.O. insurance quadrupled for us.

Maybe the homeowners in close proximity have filed. When i was shopping around for a different insurance (a few years ago) I was told that my zip code had a lot of roof claims and for that reason the insurance company I was trying to get a quote from, didn't want to write any new policies.

Incredibly sad and heartbreaking for those people!
