I just recently relocated to New Tampa (BBD and Cross Creek). I haven't seen many gyms around here. Are there any that cater to free weights as well as machines and aerobics?

There is a lifestyles family fitness at Amberly and BBD around Tampa Palms. They have machines, free weights, classes, etc.

I'll have to go inside and check it out. It seems to cater to women more than men based on their website.

When I visited the Tampa/New Tampa area the past few years I was amazed at the lack of gyms. I tried the Lifestyle Family Fitness in New Tampa, it seemed crowded even in what would be considered off hours. It obviously reflects the fact that it is the only gym in a part of town that is growing constantly, and has been for some time now. Unfortunately the construction of gyms doesn't seem to be of much interest in New Tampa, at least since I was last there anyways. Someone recommeded I try the Golds Gym on Waters Ave in Tampa. It is just down the freeway maybe 5 or 6 miles south. I found the Golds Gym there much more enjoyable to workout at least in the day time hours, I did not go there at night. Now when I visit the Tampa area I automatically just go to the Golds there rather than waste time trying to find another gym, even it they are closer to where I am at there. Of course I am visiting the area it is different if one lived there. What I did find in the Tampa Bay area was St Pete and that area seemed to have more and bigger gyms. Yes New Tampa is severely lacking in gyms, and if you like a good workout without being overwhelmed with crowds like that Family Fitness there, I would try the Golds on Waters Ave.
