Grew up in Clearwater but have been gone for 25 years. Considering a move back to Tampa. Have 2 middle school kids and we are in our early 40's and very active. Really want a nice neighborhood in the 500-600k range. Don't want to be way out like in New Tampa or far east. Thoughts on nice areas? Also what is Palm Harbor like now? Nice areas? ANy thoughts are appreciated.

You might look at East Lakes/Woodlands, just to the East of Palm Harbor. Very nice neighborhood, good schools, and you can find a very nice home in that price range.

If you haven't been to Palm Harbor in 25 years, it has GROWN..

You might want to check out Westchase, near Citrus Park. A really nice area with all types of homes. They have a small shopping center with a Publix and Doctors offices. There is a pool and golf course

Yeah, if you haven't been back here in 25 years you'll be shocked. The entire area from East Lake Woodlands and north weren't even around until after 1994. From what some of my friends that have lived around here tell me, it was all just dirt roads and orange groves. I live in East Lake Woodlands, GREAT area for families.

I am trying to remember what was in Palm Harbour 25 years ago, back then US-19 was a 2 lane road surrounded by pinetrees :-) I lived in Countryside back then but now its quite different. Of all of the schools in the area that get higher marks, I would check out East Lake as well. Here is the state site that can help you find what you are looking for and evaluate the school based upon the states evaluation. School Accountability Report...

Your price range for housing should be no problem at all in this real estate environment.

Congrats on you wanting to move back to Florida, we lived in Florida for a very short time 20+ years ago and want to move back to Florida ourselves.

We should have never left 20+ years ago. We are also looking in the same areas as you are.

Clearwater is one of our fav beaches, we never miss it when we are on or near the gulf coast even if it is for an hour we always hit the beach there.

Goodluck.

I have friends who live in Palm Harbor, and they LOVE it! One of them lives in the Cobbs Landing subdivision, and I really like it (as do they).
